Don't tell me how, tell me now!

Cindy Tschernitz is one of a growing number of experienced professionals who has put up her hand to go it alone. And she is eminently qualified. Tschernitz hails from a well-heeled 20-year background in the Information arena-in particular, Telstra and, most recently, as a senior Information Specialist for McKinsey & Company's Asia-Pacific IT & T practice-known to many as the Australian 'IT Mafia'. Now she has chosen to liberate her services from one corporate employer to serve the needs of many.

Tell Me Now is Tschernitz's new venture-she provides companies with their own Research and Information service without the overheads of staff and resources. It is, if you like, the information filter that many companies in the wake of corporate downsizing now lack. Tschernitz argues that it is no longer an option for business professionals to spend hours of every day sifting through the amount of information that is currently available to them. And neither is the alternative: no externally-sourced information. Most companies are beginning to understand the importance of the Internet, for example, as a source for the information necessary to make timely and well informed decisions. But, as Tschernitz says, how many people recognise the Internet as a totally unmanaged source-that while anyone can access information so too can anyone input information?

Tschernitz considers Tell Me Now to be a gateway to the global research community. Her company has invested in the necessary subscriptions to research houses and database vendors-such as International Data Corporation and Dialog Profound-to ensure her information is current and accurate. This is another area that amazes Tschernitz: many people don't realise the Internet isn't free! Of course, one can 'surf the Net' but you need access to the actual consultants and researchers 'at the coalface'. There is no other way to guarantee an answer to a specific enquiry. Just surfing the Net will not give you the verification or information source needed by most professionals to be able to use the information they find.

Tell Me Now is open for business. Tschernitz encourages potential clients to visit the company's web page-www.tellmenow.com.au-to find out more. And, in the spirit of the growing e-commerce market, you can even make you request online, direct from the homepage. www.tellmenow.com.au

It is the certainly the era of the small independents and start-ups-those built on personal passion and with few overheads. It is also becoming the norm to adopt flexible working practices. Working from home, with her computers and telephones, is certainly an added bonus for this mother of two. Indeed Tschernitz represents the new awareness of working smarter, not harder.
